**Job Description**

XCEL NDT is seeking a **Mechanical Integrity (MI) Technician – Level II UTT** to support our MI department by performing nondestructive testing activities in conjunction with API inspectors. This role is focused on **in-service and shutdown inspections of pressure vessels, piping, tanks, and related equipment** to ensure mechanical integrity and regulatory compliance.

The MI Technician will primarily perform **ultrasonic testing (UT), including thickness testing (UTT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and liquid penetrant testing (PT)** while working closely with **API 510, 570, and 653 inspectors**. This position is **specifically for Level II UTT technicians** and requires certification through **ASNT ISQ (Industrial Sector Qualification)**.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in refinery, petrochemical, or industrial environments.

### Key Responsibilities

  • Perform **UT thickness readings (UTT), corrosion mapping, and flaw detection** in support of MI inspections
  • Conduct **MT and PT examinations** on pressure equipment, piping, and structural components
  • Work alongside **API inspectors (510, 570, 653)** to support **in-service, shutdown, and turnaround inspections**
  • Accurately document inspection data and field results using company procedures and reporting systems
  • Follow applicable **codes, standards, and client specifications (API, ASME, ASTM, etc.)**
  • Maintain equipment calibration and ensure proper use of **NDT tools and UT equipment**
  • Comply with all **XCEL NDT safety policies and site-specific safety requirements**
  • Travel to client sites as required and work **flexible schedules, including nights or weekends during outages**

## Qualifications
### Qualifications

  • **ASNT ISQ Level II certification in Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) required**
  • Experience performing **UTT in mechanical integrity or in-service inspection programs**
  • Additional NDT certifications (MT, PT) preferred
  • Experience working in **refinery, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy industrial environments**
  • Strong understanding of **pressure equipment inspection practices and corrosion monitoring**
  • Ability to work effectively with **API 510, 570, and 653 inspectors**
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Commitment to **safety, quality, and compliance**
