## Scrub Technician
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

• - Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and other health care providers.
• Ensure availability of supplies and equipment; process sterile instrumentation and equipment.
• Performs housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Utilize sterile technique while setting up and assisting physician.
• Assist in direct patient care when necessary.
• Participate in call schedule.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

**KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:**

• - Knowledge and competency in OR technology and central service.

• **AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES:** Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
• **Information Management:** Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
• **Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety:** Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
• **MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:**

• Education – 12-month certificate program or two-year associate degree in surgical technology.
• Work Experience – One-year minimum working in an OR as a surgical technician or a new graduate from a scrub tech school or program.
• Training – Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technician/Technologist program.
• License/Certification – BLS required within 6 months of hire. Preferred - CST (Certified Sterile Technician)

• **ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS:** Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
• **Physical Demands:** Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with patients and staff. Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to **25 pounds** as part of routine duties*.*
