### Retail Sales Associate – Hardware & Building Materials

$16–$18 per hour DOE

Are you friendly, dependable, and passionate about helping customers? We are looking for a motivated Retail Sales Associate to join our hardware and building materials team. If you enjoy working with people, learning new skills, and working in a fast-paced retail environment, we want to hear from you.

### Position Summary

The primary role of the Floor Associate is customer satisfaction. By delivering excellent service and product knowledge, associates help create a positive shopping experience that drives sales and builds customer loyalty.

### Qualifications

Required

• High School diploma or vocational school graduate
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
• Strong observational and analytical skills
• Ability to work well with customers and fellow employees
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors
• Must be willing and able to learn how to mix paint and cut keys

Preferred

• Retail sales experience
• Hardware, lumber, building materials, or related industry experience

### Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and professionally
• Identify customer needs and recommend products for their projects
• Assist customers with paint mixing and key cutting services (training provided)
• Maintain stocked, clean, and organized sales areas
• Answer phones courteously and assist customers efficiently
• Process sales, returns, and charge transactions accurately
• Continue developing product and industry knowledge
• Assist with special orders and delivery orders
• Maintain positive communication with coworkers and departments
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Help create a positive team-oriented atmosphere
• Perform housekeeping duties including sweeping, stocking, dusting, and organizing merchandise
• Ensure excellent customer service from start to finish on every sale

### Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting throughout the day
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work both inside the store and outside in the yard when needed
