About The Role

## Description

Quinault Wellness Center is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Child Watch Attendant to provide safe, engaging childcare services for children whose caretakers are attending appointments or services at a Substance Use Disorder treatment facility.

The Child Watch Attendant is responsible for maintaining continuous visual and auditory supervision of children while creating a welcoming, fun, and safe environment. This position plans age-appropriate activities, supports healthy child development, maintains cleanliness of the childcare area, and ensures the safety and well-being of every child in care.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and are committed to providing exceptional service in a healthcare setting.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

  • Provide constant visual and auditory supervision of children.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging play environment.
  • Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, songs, and group play.
  • Read stories and encourage creative learning experiences.
  • Assist children with healthy habits, including eating, resting, and personal hygiene needs.
  • Practice patience and positively guide appropriate behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, staff, and children.
  • Sanitize toys, equipment, and childcare areas regularly.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean environment.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to common childhood illnesses and injuries.
  • Follow all organizational policies, including confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

## Qualifications
**Required Qualifications**

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Knowledge of basic care principles for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, patient, and professional demeanor.
  • Physical stamina and energy to engage with young children throughout the workday.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI, and confidentiality requirements, including 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
  • Basic computer and office equipment skills.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to child injuries or illnesses.
  • Must pass criminal background checks, reference checks, and applicable vaccination or exemption requirements.

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • One year or more of experience working with children in a childcare, educational, healthcare, or recreational setting.

**Licenses and Certifications**

Must obtain and maintain

  • CPR Certification
  • AED Certification
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  • Child Abuse Prevention Training
  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse Training

**Physical Requirements**

  • Frequently walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the childcare area.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to actively engage with children in play and recreational activities.

**Work Environment**

  • Primarily indoor work environment.
  • Scheduled Monday through Friday during operating hours of 5:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Position involves indirect access to confidential health information and requires strict adherence to privacy regulations.
