Class Title: Maintenance Planner & Scheduler

EEOC: Service-Maintenance

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Summary Of Position

Under limited supervision, coordinate and oversee the scheduling of maintenance. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to research, quote, and order parts and supplies in time for maintenance. Establish and maintain an inventory and stock system.

Organizational Relationships

1. Reports to the Assistant Maintenance and Asset Manager
2. Directs: Parts and Supply Clerks
3. Other: Has frequent contact with other district employees

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create maintenance schedules and generate work orders
• Maintain parts inventory
• Create procedural manuals that explain how to do certain tasks
• Estimate the costs of labor and parts for industrial equipment
• Adjust schedules to account for emergency work
• Assist and support the maintenance manager
• Serve as a liaison between maintenance and operations
• Maintain records and files essential to maintenance management
• Coordinate with maintenance staff, contractors, and external vendors
• Prepare preventive maintenance plans that are aligned with the organization’s maintenance goals

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have at least two years of experience in maintenance planning
• Must have experience coordinating with 3rd party vendors to research and order parts and supplies for maintenance
• Must have experience in maintaining parts and supply inventory
• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Texas Driver's license.
• Familiar with standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment related to water utility mechanics.

• Apply WCID 17’s safety standards to prevent accidents.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and prepare written reports of activities performed.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
• Deal effectively with the public in stressful situations.
• Tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions.
• Read and understand electrical and mechanical equipment O&M manuals, including schematics, drawings, blueprints, and technical data instructions.
• Work overtime as required.
