SNAP is hiring **5 Full-Time Seasonal Energy Specialists** to join our Community Action Team and make a meaningful impact by helping local families access essential energy assistance services.

💲 **Starting Pay:** $18.02–$20.08/hour DOE

💲 **Full Salary Range:** $18.02–$27.91/hour

As an Energy Specialist, you'll provide compassionate customer service while helping individuals and families navigate energy assistance programs and connect with valuable community resources.

## Qualifications

**Requirements:**

**Education and Experience**

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of customer service, administrative support, clerical, or related experience

**Preferred**

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Experience in social services, community action, public assistance, or non-profit programs
  • Experience working with low-income or vulnerable populations

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

  • Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, and professional customer service to diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply program rules, policies, procedures, and grant requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume, and high-stress environments with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to adapt to changing program requirements, technology, workflows, and funding guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Proficiency in computer systems and office technology including data entry, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), SharePoint, Salesforce, email systems, scanners, and other office software
  • Ability to review and critique applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills necessary to perform income calculations, grant calculations, and data review functions

**Training, Certifications, and Other Requirements**

  • Successful completion of agency and program-specific training requirements
  • Ability to travel locally for outreach, meetings, or training as needed
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance may be required for some assignments

**Work Environment / Physical Requirements**

Work is performed primarily in an office and/or hybrid environment with extensive phone, computer, and in-person client interaction. Position may require travel to outreach locations, community sites, or temporary work locations, including occasional outdoor settings.

The work environment is frequently fast-paced and may involve clients experiencing crisis situations, emotional distress, or urgent utility needs. Frequent interruptions and changing priorities are common.

Physical requirements may include

  • Sitting and standing for extended periods
  • Frequent walking throughout office and outreach locations
  • Reaching, bending, and carrying files or office materials
  • Lifting and moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with computer and office equipment use

Seasonal positions typically operate from late fall through early spring, though some positions may continue year-round depending on program and funding availability.
