Friends' Central School is an independent, coeducational Quaker day school founded in 1845 and serving approximately 819 students in Nursery through grade 12. Located in the Philadelphia suburbs, the School has two campuses. The Middle & Upper Schools are located just outside of West Philadelphia in Wynnewood, and the Lower School is on our Old Gulph Road campus in the heart of Wynnewood.

**Assistant Head Coach of Friends’ Central Aquatics**

The Assistant Head Coach of Friends’ Central Aquatics (FCA) is responsible for leading, coaching, and the overall competitive swimming program for age group swimmers from ages 5-12 years of age. They are responsible for creating and executing a strategy for the continued success of all swimmers and developing the skills and talent of the coaching staff.

**Responsibilities:**

1. Design the seasonal plan for the Age Group Program that fits within the scope of the group goals the Head Coach’s Philosophy
2. Provide leadership and instruction to the age group coaches and swimmers
3. Ensure continued growth and excellence of FCA and FCS Swim Programs.
4. Assist Director and Head Coach with planning monthly staff meetings
5. Ensure regular communication with parents at the age group level
6. Assess new swimmers during evaluations
7. Adhere to all USA Swimming and Middle Atlantic Swimming guidelines and policies.
8. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
9. Assist in conducting meetings with Head Coach & Director of FCA
10. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the FCA and FCS community, including current FCA and FCS swim families.

**Essential Job Tasks**

1. Provide hands-on direction for the Age Group swim team program on a daily basis, including writing practices consistent with the program’s approach and focus, as well as conducting practices for several different levels within the Age Group Programs.
2. Ensure regular communication with age group assistant coaches on daily basis
3. Oversee assistant coaches working with the Junior I & II swimmers.
4. Develop effective communication (both written and verbal) with swimmers and families.
5. Coordinate meet entries with the FCA Head Coach.
6. Manage team enrollment and any on deck matters for Age Group swimmers at practices and meets.
7. Substitute for other coaches as needed.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Director of FCA

**Job Status**: Exempt, full time, 12 month
## Qualifications

The ideal candidate will

• Has held the title of Assistant Head Coach or Head Age Group coach preferred
• Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Have at least 5+ years of competitive coaching experience at the high school, college or USA club level preferred
• Knowledge of designing and implementing seasonal training plans.
• Hold a current Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certification, or obtain within the first 90 days of employment
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills and display excellent judgment.
• Have knowledge of Hy-Tek’s Meet Manager and Team Manager software.
• Have strong computer skills and be familiar with basic web content management and social media management.
• Have knowledge of team management software such as Teamunify, Commit Swimming, etc.

Candidates must pass the USA Swimming Coaching certification and background check requirements prior to final hire.

**Friends’ Central Aquatics** is a dynamic club with a committed core of 150+ swimmers, a supportive family body, and an enthusiastic staff, looking to increase training and performance results. The club was founded in 2001 and has grown into one of the largest USA Club Swimming programs in the region.. The club currently trains at Friends’ Central School. The facilities include a 6 lane, 25-yard competition pool, fitness room, athletic fields, outdoor track, and an Endless Elite Pool. FCA hosts seven short course meets each year. FCA also runs a very successful Saturday swim school that offers both private and group lessons.

**Friends’ Central School** has a successful swim program that has earned a total of 33 Friends Schools League titles. FCS swimming has one at least one league title every year from 2006-2023. FCS has sent more than 45 swimmers to compete at the college level.
