## Description

**Job Summary:**

**The Radiology/Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care under the guidance and the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Radiology/Patient Care Technician is also responsible for applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in accordance with policy and procedure, practicing radiation safety methods at all times.**

**Job Responsibilities:**

**1. Demonstrates flexibility to meet staffing needs of the department and organization.**

**2. Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful,**

**accurate and efficient manner to newborns, pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric**

**populations.**

**3. Identifies patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and**

**evaluation.**

**4. Uses proper positioning and technical factors to obtain high quality images.**

**5. Proficiently operates radiographic equipment.**

**6. Is in compliance with all radiation safety standards.**

**7. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital**

**policies and procedures.**

**8. Will assist with procedures, will be competent in all waive testing and splinting needs.**

**9. Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and**

**religious diversity.**

## Qualifications

**Education Requirements and Other Requirements:**

**Education Level:** High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

**Licensure/Certification:** Formal radiologic technology training in AMA approved school. Must be

ARRT registered and IDNS licensed unrestricted. BLS certification required.

**Experience Requirements:**Minimumof two years’ experience in an acute care radiology position.
