JOB TITLE: INFECTION CONTROL CNA/CMA
DEPARTMENT: INFECTION CONTROL
GENERAL SUMMARY
Assists Infection Preventionist (IP) with multiple Infection Control surveillance activities and clerical tasks.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs/manages monthly interdepartmental hand hygiene audits (Safety Culture, secret shopper, security camera review)
- Manages monthly ATP environmental monitoring, including interdepartmental swabbing and procuring ATP supplies
- Collates and distributes monthly surgical site infection surveys to GAHHS surgeons
- Conducts quarterly interdepartmental Infection Control inspections
- Assists with/manages annual clinic IC audits
- Completes various clerical tasks as requested by IP
- Assists in Infection Control processes in compliance with administrative, legal and regulatory requirements
- Adapts positively to frequent changes and interruptions in workload and/or work schedules.
- Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements.
- Complies with the organizational attendance policy and use of the electronic timekeeping system.
- Utilizes time efficiently and productively to enhance department operations and to ensure department and organization success.
- Complies with dress code.
- Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient, and provider information.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:
- Floor to waist - 30 pounds
- 14” to waist - 40 pounds
- Waist to shoulder - 20 pounds
- Shoulder to overhead - 10 pounds
- Carry 30 pounds for 30 feet
- Push 25 pounds/force for 15 feet
- Pull 25 pounds/force for 15 feet
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 40 wpm, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment as necessary.
- It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Infection Preventionist
## Qualifications
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Office Assistant
- Previous experience in office setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation in correspondence.
- Computer skills, including adequate knowledge in use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Apple iPad.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
- Capability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems (both computer and paper).
- Interpersonal skills to speak and communicate clearly
- Skill to deal courteously and professionally with patients, co-workers, and visitors
- Competent to independently manage tasks which require attention to detail
- Adaptability and flexibility in managing various assignments and schedule changes
INFECTION EXPOSURE RISK LEVEL
Category II– moderate to minimal exposure to potentially infectious materials
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in an office as well as multiple healthcare environments
- Involves frequent contact with staff and patients
- Work may be demanding at times
