**Job Description:**

The Maintenance Technician I position requires a flexible and independent individual who can be task oriented and punctual. The Maintenance Technician I must have a good work ethic and be able to perform tasks required of them. The maintenance worker position will be required to visit each site assigned and provide services required upon by upper-level management as well as the program directors. The Maintenance Technician I position must be filled by someone that is energetic and has the desire to uphold their job duties and responsibilities in a timely manner.

**Essential Functions:**

  • Ability to review work orders to identify the type and number of materials needed to properly complete a task.
  • Operates power tools and vehicles and maintains them in proper working order.
  • Assists in the transportation of equipment and supplies to the location required and maintains a clean driving record, allowing use of agency vehicles.
  • Coordinates with Agency staff and outside contractors for maintenance and repairs as appropriate.
  • Must demonstrate ability to perform all ground keeping maintenance activities, including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal, flower bed, bush, and tree care.
  • Maintains inventory, equipment, information/warranty, and preventive maintenance records.
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and conduct comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to respond to emergency situations including emergency systems.
  • Performs move-in/move-out inspections.
  • Proper use, care, and maintenance of custodial, lawn maintenance and gardening equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic building/ground maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Ability to work closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure a smooth-running operation.
  • Must work well with outside contractors and/or agencies on special projects that may arise.
  • Develops and maintains courteous, tactful, and positive relationships with Agency staff, residents, volunteers, municipal, utility, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Achieves a balance between the difficulties and concerns of individual tenants and the maintenance of the common good of the project.
  • Effectively work under a substantial workload, time constraints, frequent interruptions, and conflicting and/or shifting priorities.
  • Must demonstrate ability to read, understand, interpret, explain, and apply applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of buildings and grounds.
  • Other duties as necessary.

**Supervisory Responsibilities:**

  • N/A

**Working Environment:**

  • Working indoors and outdoors.
  • Extreme weather conditions.
  • Excessive noise, continuous.
  • Slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
  • Working around moving machinery/heavy equipment.
  • Working in close proximity to others.

**Physical Demands:**

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.

**Travel Required:**

  • Ability to travel to various office or facility locations.

**Required education and experience:**

  • 3 years or less (minimum of 3 months) of experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Possess CPR/First Aid certification.

**Preferred education and experience:**

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

**Additional Eligibility Requirements:**

  • N/A

**Work authorization/security clearance requirements:**

  • Current TB test and health screen.
  • Valid Driver’s License

## Qualifications
**Required education and experience:**

  • 3 years or less (minimum of 3 months) of experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Possess CPR/First Aid certification.

**Preferred education and experience:**

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Current TB test and health screen.
  • Valid Driver’s License
