**Overview:** Assembler of school, activity, and commercial buses.
**Position Summary:**
Under the general supervision of the Weld Supervisor, the Welder performs tasks required to prep school and commercial bus chassis. This position is part of our chassis upfit team and will work with the team to prep chassis and assemble/fabricate components & sub-assemblies. In addition, this position will perform mechanical and electrical work to chassis and completed bus bodies The position requires a strong automotive mechanical background and MIG welding.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Prep chassis for body build including:
- a. Welding on frame extensions
- b. Modify/replace exhaust systems
- c. Suspension upgrades
- d. Installation of electrical and HVAC wiring/hoses
- Weld metal cage to cutaway chassis
- Cut, install and weld cross members and support structures
**Pay is commensurate with experience**
## Qualifications
**Education and/or Experience:**
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 - 3 years of experience and/or training in automotive troubleshooting/repairs is desired
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Production, Assembly, or Light Manufacturing desired
- AWS Welding Certification desired
**Requirements:**
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Must demonstrate good time management skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics
- Must demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner
- Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution
- Must have the ability to establish strong working relationships with co-workers and management
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

**Physical demands:**
