## Description
**SUMMARY:**Assist landscape supervisor in completing daily landscaping tasks as directed, which includes maintaining grounds and property.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

  • Operate powered equipment such as: lawn mowers, blowers, line trimmers, chain saws, rototillers, hedge trimmers, loppers, pruners, and utility vehicles ("gator")
  • Able to be at work and on time as scheduled either written or verbal and Saturday night work as required
  • Mow or edge lawns using power mowers and/or edgers
  • Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes
  • Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws
  • Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areas
  • Gather and remove litter
  • Provide proper upkeep of grounds
  • At season end return all issued equipment, uniforms and/or tools
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:**

  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures
  • Ability to use equipment and materials properly and safely
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to work in high, precarious places and elevated places
  • Ability to work in situations where there is darkness or poor lighting
  • Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, and 20 feet or more
  • Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships
  • Ability to use peripheral vision and adjust focus
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent periods of loud noise
  • Ability to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Ability to climb and/or balance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk around with it
  • Ability to work in temperature and weather extremes from sub-zero to 100+ degrees and snow and rain
  • Ability to work 8 -16 hour work days as needed
  • Ability to work Saturday or 6 consecutive days without a day off as needed
  • **Qualifications:**
  • **Education/Experience**
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred

**Certificates/Licenses Required**

  • Valid driver's license preferred but not essential

**Language Ability**

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

**Reasoning Ability**

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

This is an intensified version of our Landscaping training program, and is a DoL approved Apprenticeship Program. It includes Approximately 3000 hours of on-the-job training, and 288 hours of related technical instruction.
