**Position Summary**
The role of the Birth Documentation Tech reports to the Health Information Services Manager. This position is responsible for collecting, processing, and submitting information in order to obtain a birth certificate issuance from the Arkansas Department of Health Vital Records.
**Essential Position Responsibilities**
- Reach out to parents of the newborn to collect necessary information for birth certificates
- Obtain and submit necessary documentation including documentation signed by parents or guardians, medical record information, and any other necessary documentation to the appropriate state agency
- Assist with chart assembly, correspondence, and physician queries, as necessary
**Qualifications**
- **Education**: High School Diploma or GED
- **Licensure and Certifications**: N/A
- **Experience**: Minimum 1-year previous experience in HIS, a healthcare setting, or a clerical support role, preferred.
**Work Environment:** This position will spend 60% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 40% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
