# Dietary Aide

## About This Role

The Dietary Aide plays an important role in creating a warm, welcoming, and engaging dining experience for residents. More than serving meals, this position helps foster meaningful social connections, encourages resident independence, and supports each resident's dignity and well-being. Working within our Dining Services team, you'll help ensure residents receive exceptional service while contributing to a positive community atmosphere rooted in hospitality, compassion, and person-centered care.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare dining rooms for meal service by creating a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
  • Greet residents, assist with seating, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the dining experience.
  • Take meal orders accurately and serve food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of menu offerings, dietary accommodations, and therapeutic diets.
  • Sit and engage with residents during meals to encourage social connection and enhance quality of life.
  • Support resident choice and independence by offering encouragement, cues, and assistance when needed.
  • Observe and report changes in appetite, eating habits, behavior, or dining preferences to appropriate team members.
  • Collaborate with nursing and caregiving staff to ensure residents' dietary needs and care plans are followed.
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards in dining and kitchen areas.
  • Assist with dishwashing, stocking supplies, and other dining services support duties as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with members, families, and team members.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and dining service procedures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Dependable attendance and professional presentation.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Previous experience in food service, hospitality, senior living, healthcare, or customer service.
  • Experience working with older adults or individuals living with dementia.
  • Knowledge of memory care or Montessori-based approaches to resident engagement.
  • Experience supporting therapeutic diets and special dietary accommodations.
  • **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Relevant food service, hospitality, or caregiving experience is valued.
