**Position:** Estimator
**Mission:**
- Provide accurate and timely estimates to customers.
- Analyze plans for potential value engineering opportunities.
- Identify potential liabilities as they relate to SeC products.
**Roles & Objectives:**
- Produce accurate material takeoffs
- Recognize and identify issues or liabilities and address them quickly
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings to validate design and proposed quantities
- Analyze data and correlate findings to future sales and material needs
- Identify opportunities to expand responsibilities through data trend analysis and competitive insights
- Provide clients with value engineered solutions and prepare value engineered estimates
- Collaborate with Engineering to coordinate value engineering opportunities
- Collaborate with Sales on prioritization and support on time delivery of quotations
- Stay informed on industry changes and participate in water quality related organizations
- Coordinate with other departments regarding takeoffs, load size, delivery distance, etc.
- Collect and organize key documents (plans, blueprints, drawings, specifications) for easy retrieval
- Enter orders for WQU and UGD chambers and sediment ponds
## Qualifications
**Competencies:**
- Numeric ability and reasoning
- Ability to prepare submittals, drawings, and approvals for underground retention and chamber systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Excel, ERP systems, and engineering software
- Ability to communicate easily with contractors, sales, engineers, and owners
- Accuracy with data and numbers
- Comfortable and competent meeting and speaking with clients
- Capable of understanding and following business processes
- Very detail oriented and diligent
- Basic understanding of business functions and processes
- Strong ability to learn; self starter; driven to perform at a high level
- Helpful and willing to go above and beyond
- Knowledge or field experience in utilities, construction, or water quality
- Punctual, reliable, and strong time management skills
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and plan drawings
- Strong data compilation, analysis, and interpretation skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Capable of interpreting plans and making assumptions (with Engineering) to qualify estimates and protect the company
- Capable of predicting and communicating to Sales—within two days—the ability to complete an estimate within the requested timeframe
**Level I Expectations**
- Ability to learn all aspects of project estimation, including quantity takeoffs and cost calculations
- Good order entry, verification, accuracy, and information management skills
- Ability to assist with development of cost estimates and proposals
- Ability to develop SeC product knowledge
- Develop knowledge of estimating software, scheduling software, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam
- Knowledge and ability to correctly field and respond to incoming Estimator requests
**Level II Expectations**
- Manage quality of work to include accuracy, thoroughness and clarity
- Ability to assemble proposals and technical writing
- Ability to produce accurate material takeoffs and make available for sales.
- Ability to develop cost estimates and proposals
- Knowledge of all SeC products
- Good knowledge of estimating software, scheduling software, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Bluebeam
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
**Level III Expectations**
- Ability to perform all aspects of project estimation regarding all SeC products and solutions
- Ability to produce accurate material takeoffs and make available for Sales
- Ability to develop cost estimates and proposals
- Manage quality of work, including accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity
- Strong working knowledge of all SeC products and solutions
- Ability to communicate easily with mechanical contractors, Sales, engineers, owners, and manufacturers
- Serve as lead for instruction, training, and mentoring of new Estimators
- Ability to evaluate specifications, prepare RFIs, and collect adequate data to determine value engineering opportunities
- Accurately resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Analyze new estimating software and processes; serve as lead for Titan implementation and provide input and recommendations
- Delegate work and maintain the estimating schedule
- Ability to prepare CAD drawings for UGD chambers and sediment ponds
- Size and produce submittal drawings and quotes for WQ and UGD
- Size and produce value engineering comparisons against competitor products and build CAD drawings in support of Sales
- Utilize Plan Rooms and Bid Boards to identify potential projects to bid, value engineer, and follow up with Engineering
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, building networks, and participating in professional societies
