**Position Overview**
Centurion Health is seeking an experienced **Director of Nursing** to oversee nursing operations at **GDCP | Jackson, GA.**
The Director of Nursing is responsible for leading the nursing department, supporting clinical operations, ensuring appropriate staffing coverage, maintaining compliance standards, and promoting a strong culture of accountability, professionalism, and patient-centered correctional healthcare. This role requires a strong nursing leader who can manage a complex healthcare environment, support staff development, work closely with site leadership, and maintain effective communication with clinical, administrative, and operational teams.

## Qualifications
**Key Responsibilities**
The Director of Nursing will be responsible for
- Providing leadership and oversight for nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other clinical support team members.
- Ensuring nursing services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, facility procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Supporting daily clinical operations, staffing needs, scheduling, and workflow coordination.
- Partnering with site leadership, the HSA, medical providers, and regional leadership to address clinical and operational concerns.
- Monitoring nursing documentation, medication administration processes, infection control practices, and patient care standards.
- Coaching, mentoring, and holding nursing staff accountable for performance, professionalism, and compliance.
- Assisting with audits, corrective action plans, quality improvement initiatives, and readiness for internal or external reviews.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of nursing staff.
- Helping identify process gaps and implementing solutions that improve patient care, staff performance, and facility operations.
- Promoting a professional, team-oriented environment in a correctional healthcare setting.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Qualified candidates should have
- Active **Registered Nurse license** in Georgia or a compact state.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Prior nursing leadership experience required.
- Strong background in clinical operations, staff supervision, compliance, and quality improvement.
- Ability to lead in a fast-paced, secure correctional healthcare environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with medical, administrative, custody, and regional leadership teams.
**Preferred Experience**
Preferred candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas
- Correctional healthcare
- Behavioral health
- Emergency Room
- Med/Surg
- Acute care
- Leadership roles such as DON, ADON, Nurse Manager, HSA, House Supervisor, or Charge Nurse
- Managing large teams or multi-shift nursing operations
- Survey readiness, audits, compliance, or corrective action planning
**Ideal Candidate Profile**
The ideal candidate is a strong, steady nursing leader who understands both clinical care and operational accountability. This person should be comfortable leading a large team, addressing performance concerns directly, building structure, and helping the site maintain compliance.
This is not a “sit back and observe” leadership role. The right candidate should be hands-on, solution-focused, and able to step into a complex environment with confidence.
