About The Role

Basic Job Purpose

The Facilities Tech I will also serve as Day Porter. This hybrid role is responsible for performing light maintenance and repair tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the facility. The position is split approximately 50/50 between facilities support and day porter cleaning duties. In this role you will be responsible for:

Facilities Maintenance (50%)

  • Perform light repairs including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general handyman tasks
  • Conduct routine inspections of building systems and report issues as needed
  • Replace light bulbs, air filters, and other minor components
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders
  • Elevate repair tasks that exceed current qualification level

Day Porter/Cleaning (50%)

  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas including lobbies, restrooms, break rooms, and hallways
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and trash removal
  • Restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) throughout the day
  • Address spills, hazards, and urgent cleaning needs in a timely manner
  • Monitor facility conditions and ensure a neat, professional appearance at all times

This position reports to the Facilities/EH&S Director for Day Porter responsibilities and Facilities Supervisor for Facilities/Maintenance responsibilities.
## Qualifications

Assignment of Functions and Responsibilities

  • Respond to assigned maintenance tickets within defined service timeframes
  • Perform minor repairs including:
  • Plumbing (fix leaks, unclog drains, replace fixtures)
  • Electrical (replace bulbs, outlets, switches-non-licensed work only)
  • Carpentry (door adjustments, hardware installation, minor patchwork)
  • Document completed work and note any follow-up needs
  • Conduct routine inspections of:
  • HVAC units (filter checks/replacements)
  • Lighting systems
  • Restroom fixtures and water systems
  • Perform ongoing cleaning rather than end-of-day only service
  • Clean and sanitize fixtures multiple times daily
  • Restock soap, paper products, and hygiene supplies
  • Monitor for plumbing or sanitation issues and report promptly
  • Empty trash and recycling containers regularly
  • Transport waste to designated disposal areas
  • Replace liners and maintain cleanliness of bins
  • Track inventory levels of cleaning supplies and consumables / Notify supervisor when restocking is needed
  • May be required to assist at any of our three locations
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements for Education, Skillset, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Facilities maintenance
  • Building operations
  • Janitorial or custodial services
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Computer savvy

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and equipment repairs
  • HVAC systems (filter changes, basic troubleshooting)
  • Experience operating:
  • Floor care equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors)
  • Maintenance tools and light power equipment
