MAB Community Services's **Café 9**, a unique and exciting vocational program featuring a fully functioning café where adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI) gain real-world work experience, develop culinary and employment skills, earn competitive wages, and build meaningful connections within their community.
We are seeking a **Culinary Arts Teaching Assistant** who is passionate about culinary arts, mentorship, and supporting individuals in reaching their personal and professional goals. This is a hands-on role where you will help operate a real café while teaching valuable skills that promote independence, confidence, and success.
Under the direction of the Culinary Arts Instructor/Program Director, you will support daily café operations, assist with food preparation and service, and provide coaching and encouragement to program participants as they develop their culinary and workplace skills.
## What You’ll Do
- Support the daily operations of Café 9, including food preparation, customer service, café organization, and kitchen responsibilities.
- Assist participants in learning culinary skills, food safety practices, and workplace expectations.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where individuals feel supported, valued, and empowered.
- Provide hands-on coaching and encouragement to help participants build confidence and independence.
- Prepare breakfast and lunch offerings while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Develop positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and café customers.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with health regulations and program standards.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for the mission of MAB Community Services.

## Qualifications
- Experience in culinary arts, food service, hospitality, education, or a related field preferred.
- Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Education, or related degree/certification preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, vocational programs, or human services preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting others.
