Transportation Driver Description & Responsibilities

**\*\* CDL IS NOT REQUIRED \*\***

**MAIN FUNCTION**: Responsible for the safe transportation of residents in the Adult Day Health Care program, Social Adult Day Care, Active Day, Food Transport, Laundry Transports, Activities trips and for special transportation request approved by the Operations Manager

**DUTIES AND RESPONOSIBILITIES:**

  1. Responsible for the operation of facility transportation vehicles which includes but not limited to cars, trucks and multi-passenger vans with a focus on safety.
  2. All drivers report to the Operations Manager
  3. Maintains defensive driving at all times responding to all safety signs, traffic and road conditions.
  4. Assist in coordinating daycare routes when the Operation Manager is off campus due to illness, vacation or other responsibilities
  5. Assists registrants and other passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle and assures safe destination and arrival. Operates lifts and securement devices; as necessary.
  6. Will dress neat for work and wear a clean polo style shirt with casual pants. (No Jeans)
  7. Interprets driving directions to plan the most efficient route service available.
  8. Follows specific regularly scheduled routes for Adult Day Health Care/Social Adult Day Care and initiates route changes upon the admission of new registrants.
  9. Completes resident discharge transports and may assist residents with transporting their personal belongings
  10. A driver will transport food daily from the Presbyterian Residential Community to The Medical Adult Daycare. A driver will also transport food goods/supplies once per week to for Medical Daycare staff to restock
  11. A driver will make a return trip from Medical Day Care to Presbyterian Residential Community daily to return any trays or supplies.
  12. Deliver food from PRC to the Meadows as needed
  13. Fuels vehicles, at half a tank or as assigned
  14. Will clean both the exterior and interior of fleet vehicles as needed or assigned
  15. Pick up and /or drop off vehicles to and from our repair shops as assigned
  16. In accordance with facility policies responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies with proper notification to designated parties relative to the accident/incident.
  17. Maintains accurate, up to date records as required. Complete daily and Monthly logs
  18. All drivers will notify the Operations Manager if running late for a transport
  19. If a passenger is going to be late to their destination the Operations Manager will notify the Daycare Director
  20. Notifies the Operations Manager of any vehicle problems for immediate attention to ensure vehicle safety at all times.
  21. Must possess a valid/clean New York state driver’s license in good standing meeting insurers’ requirements.
  22. A NYSDMV drivers abstract is required
  23. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager

**EDUCATION**: High School Graduate or GED.

**CONTACTS**: Co-workers, residents/registrants, family members, individuals in the community.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**: Stands, bends, drives and walks most of the day. Must have good eye sight to ensure safe navigation of fleet vehicles. Will push wheelchairs and assist individuals entering and exiting the vehicles.
