**Position Overview**

The Shelter Advocate Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership for domestic violence shelter operations while delivering direct services to residents. This role combines staff supervision, program coordination, case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care across multiple shelter locations.

***This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week. The schedule is Tuesday 7am-3pm, Wednesday 1pm-9pm, Thursday 7am-3pm, Friday 7am-3pm and Saturday 1pm-9pm.***

**What You'll Do:**

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of two domestic violence shelters, ensuring safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environments for residents and staff.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and support Shelter Advocates through regular check-ins, task delegation, and ongoing team development.
  • Provide direct client services including intake, orientation, safety planning, crisis intervention, advocacy, goal setting, and intensive case management for survivors and their children.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans while coordinating care with internal teams and external community providers.
  • Facilitate access to housing, healthcare, legal, behavioral health, child welfare, and other essential community resources through strong collaborative partnerships.
  • Oversee shelter operations, including resident meetings, household needs, facility maintenance coordination, inventory management, petty cash, and program documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with agency, funding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in crisis hotline coverage and provide transportation and support for clients attending critical appointments, services, and activities as needed.

**What We're Looking For:**

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of related human services experience; OR Associate degree and 4+ years of related human services experience; OR High school diploma/equivalent and 8+ years of related human services experience. Substitution of appropriate college training is allowed but subject to funder’s approval.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the certified domestic violence counselor per CGS 52-146k before providing direct service to clients, followed with six-hour recertification yearly
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable at a reasonable rate under the Organization’s auto insurance plan.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • One year prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Two years Advocacy and/or direct service experience working with survivors of domestic violence in a community-based setting preferred.
