**GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES**

The Podiatrist at WSMC is responsible for providing direct outpatient medical services to WSMC patients. S/he is responsible for rendering services that reflect current standards of medical care appropriate to the local medical community. S/he is responsible for coordination of care as appropriate, and for documentation as appropriate for continuity of care and risk management. S/he serves as a member of the health care team whose goals are described in the WSMC mission statement, and assumes responsibility as assigned for quality assurance/quality improvement efforts. S/he is responsible for diagnosing and treating medical conditions of the foot, ankle (if ankle licensed) and related structures including the tendons that insert into the foot and the nonsurgical treatment of the muscles and tendons of the leg.

**GENERAL DUTIES**

1. Obtain a relevant patient health and medical history
2. Initial and ongoing assessment of patient’s medical, physical, and psychosocial status
3. Conduct non-invasive preventive screening procedures based on age and history
4. Perform a physical examination based on age and history
5. Update and record changes in health status
6. Identify medical and health risks and needs
7. Identify needs of the individual, family or community as a result of the evaluation of the collected data
8. Formulate the appropriate differential diagnosis based on the history, physical examination, and clinical findings
9. Develop and provide a relevant patient education plan
10. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic/laboratory tests
11. Prescribe non-pharmacologic therapies
12. Order and administer tests including bloodwork
13. Review and interpret test results
14. Administer medications
15. Operate medical equipment
16. Recommend further treatment options or future appointments if needed
17. Explain risks versus benefits of any procedures recommended in accordance with consent protocol
18. Collaborate with designated surgical facility as appropriate for continuity of care, scheduling and treatment planning
19. Prescribe and/or administer pharmacologic agents in accordance with standardized procedures
20. Determine the effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of client care outcomes
21. Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies
22. Reassess and modify care plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals
23. Deliver quality care while maintaining WSMC metrics pertaining to productivity
24. Participate in on-call assignments
25. Consult with patients by telephone as appropriate
26. Attend staff, departmental, and interdepartmental team meetings as assigned/applicable.
27. Participate in risk management activities
28. Position requires:
29. Ability to obtain license to practice medicine in the state of California.
30. Preferred board eligible or board certified.
31. Admitting/Consult privileges in a local hospital/medical center (preferred).
32. Ability to provide high-quality, cost-effective health care to patients of all ages and genders, with a high degree of patient satisfaction.
33. Ability to work effectively with co-staff members in cooperative decision-making.
34. Ability to work effectively with staff members and patients from a variety of ethnic, political, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
35. Willingness to work flexible hours if necessary.
36. Ability to work independently to solve problems creatively and with initiative.
37. Commitment to supporting the mission and principles of the WSMC.
38. Document all pertinent information in patient’s electronic medical record according to Western Sierra Medical Clinic's policies and ensure patient records are kept up to date including test results, immunizations, condition changes, etc.
39. Uphold Western Sierra Medical Clinic's Policies and Procedures, infection control standards, applicable state, federal and local laws.
40. Participate in Quality Improvement activities, including
41. Interdepartmental quality improvement team efforts; and
42. Contributing to overall efforts toward higher-quality, more cost-effective health care for patients and improved quality of work-life for staff members
43. Cooperate and participate in peer review, health care risk management and compliance activities
44. Consult with other healthcare professionals as needed
45. 33. Other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this position is $165,000 - 215,000 annually.
## Qualifications
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Valid California license to practice as a Podiatrist with State Board of Podiatric Medicine.
2. Current DEA.
3. Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS).

**DESIRED EXPERIENCE**

1. Familiarity with an electronic practice management system.
2. Computer literate (i.e. logging on to computer, usage of keyboard and mouse, familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel).
3. Ability to type 40 wpm
