## Pre-K Counts Lead Teacher
Location: Reading YMCA
Salary: $50,000

The YMCA of Reading & Berks County is seeking a **Pennsylvania Certified Pre-K Counts Lead Teacher** to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where every child can thrive. This position plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality early childhood education while supporting classroom staff, partnering with families, and maintaining compliance with Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, Keystone STARS, DHS, and YMCA standards.
### **What You'll Do**
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons.
- Create a positive, engaging classroom environment that promotes school readiness.
- Lead and mentor assistant teachers and classroom staff.
- Build strong relationships and communicate regularly with families.
- Maintain accurate attendance, emergency, and child records.
- Ensure classroom compliance with DHS, Keystone STARS, ELRC, and YMCA standards.
- Monitor classroom ratios, health, safety, and cleanliness.
- Identify and communicate developmental concerns to program leadership.
- Participate in team planning meetings, trainings, and YMCA events.
- Promote the YMCA mission through exceptional service to children and families.
- Support continuous quality improvement within the Early Learning Program.

## Qualifications
### **Required**
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Pennsylvania Instructional Level I Teaching Certificate (Level II preferred).
- Eligible to work within the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts requirements.
- Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Passion for early childhood education and child development.
### **Required Certifications (or ability to obtain and maintain)**
- CPR/AED/Oxygen Administration
- First Aid
- Annual Fire Safety Training
- Required online risk management trainings
- All required Pennsylvania child care clearances and ongoing professional development.
### **Physical Requirements**
- Ability to actively supervise young children throughout the day.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to participate in classroom activities and outdoor play.
