**Facility and Shop Machinist**
**Non-Exempt Position**
**Reports to: Facilities & Shop Manager**
**Revised 7/22/26**
**Position Summary**
The Facility and Shop Machinist produces, repairs, and modifies precision parts and tooling. This role supports facility maintenance and shop operations by troubleshooting and repairing equipment to minimize downtime.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Machining: Operate manual machines and CNC lathes(would be helpful) to fabricate precision parts, fixtures, and tooling from blueprints.
- Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic repairs on facility equipment.
- Shop Support: Maintain shop safety and cleanliness while managing tooling inventory and documenting repairs.
- Collaboration: Partner with production and maintenance teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
**Qualifications**
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
- Experience: 3+ years of manual machining experience; CNC lathes and manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.
- Skills: Ability to read blueprints, use micrometers/calipers, and perform basic welding. Familiar with manual machines and tooling associated with them.
**Schedule, Physical & Work Environment**
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment with exposure to some noise, oils, and coolants.
- Work hours could be scheduled for up to 10 hours a day

- Problem Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude to diagnose equipment malfunctions and execute effective repairs.
- Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to OSHA standards, company safety protocols, and protective equipment guidelines.
- Adaptability: Ability to switch efficiently between high-precision machining tasks and general facility maintenance.
- Accountability: Strong time management skills to work independently and prioritize urgent breakdown repairs.
