**The Job:**
The Data Manager serves as the primary architect and administrator of the organization’s data management ecosystem. This role provides strategic oversight of client, program, and philanthropic data throughout its lifecycle. Beyond technical maintenance, this position is a key driver of organizational evolution, advancing data systems to ensure robust reporting and precise service tracking. In close collaboration with program leadership and the Chief Operating Officer, the Data Manager leads the transition from traditional quantitative tracking toward outcome-driven program evaluation and design. This role is pivotal in ensuring data integrity and privacy while navigating complex regulatory mandates. The Data Manager ensures that all systems are intuitive, user-friendly, and capable of generating the high-integrity insights necessary to optimize service delivery, satisfy diverse funder requirements, and bolster public-facing impact narratives.
**Essential Functions:**
- Direct the administration and continuous improvement of online data management platforms to ensure seamless organizational workflows.
- Partner with senior and executive leadership to design and implement evaluative frameworks that measure long-term program efficacy and client impact.
- Maintain standards for data privacy, security, and confidentiality ensuring all reporting meets or exceeds legal and funder-mandated requirements.
- Act as a strategic partner between technical systems and program staff, fostering user-friendly data culture that supports timely service delivery and informed decision-making.
- Transform complex datasets into actionable reports that inform philanthropic, outreach, and Agency growth initiatives.
- Lead and support data collection efforts toward data evaluation, driven by program outcomes
- Develop innovative secondary protocols to capture critical data points beyond standard software constraints.
- Lead and deliver training to ensure staff and volunteers are proficient in agency digital platforms, secure data handling, and best practices.
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting to ensure effective and consistent platform use.
- Develops, implements, and continuously improves data management processes and standards to enhance data integrity, optimize reporting capabilities, identify donor trends, and support data-driven fundraising strategies.

## Qualifications
**Job Requirements:**
**Education:**
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain agency-required certifications in applicable digital platforms within 90 days of hire.
**Experience:**
- Three (3) years of experience managing organizational databases, data systems, and business software.
- Three (3) years of experience administering client, program, and donor databases, including reporting, data quality, and program evaluation.
- Two (2) years of experience creating data reports and visualizations.
- Two (2) years of experience leading teams, training staff, and supporting multiple locations.
- Two (2) years’ experience performing statistical analysis, data evaluation, and experience developing database queries.
**Preferred Skills:**
- Bilingual/Multilingual fluency of one or more languages (Written and Oral)
- Experience in a nonprofit or social services work environment.
- Experience with digital platforms common to nonprofits and fundraising (e.g., Efforts to Outcomes and DonorPerfect or similar platform experience.
- Demonstrated experience creating dashboards and reports that present data clearly to staff and leadership.
- Experience leading organization-wide implementation and adoption of new software systems.

**Working Environment:**
Hybrid-model eligible after demonstrated operational proficiency; schedule to be determined in coordination and approval by supervisor. Must maintain personal cell phone for work-related purposes. Ability to work in intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking fields. Working conditions may include possible exposure to communicable diseases related to those typically found in social service settings. The incumbent must reside in California and within 75-mile radius of the City of San Diego.
**Physical Demands:**
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
**Travel:**
Some travel may be required (up to approximately 20% mostly within San Diego County). Must have consistent and reliable transportation available for work-related purposes
**Work Hours:**
The employee must be available during Agency working hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional weekend hours may be required contingent on workload.
