**Awake Overnight Youth Care Specialist**

**St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) – St. Augustine, FL**

**Full-Time | Overnight Shift**

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is seeking dependable, compassionate, and observant individuals to join our residential team as an **Awake Overnight Youth Care Specialist**. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of youth receiving residential behavioral health services.

This is more than an overnight monitoring position—you'll provide supervision, guidance, crisis intervention, and support while helping create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people can heal and thrive.

**What You'll Do**

  • Maintain an awake presence throughout the entire overnight shift.
  • Monitor residential cottages and conduct scheduled safety and room checks.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all youth.
  • Provide direct supervision, behavioral management, and positive guidance.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth in care.
  • Respond calmly and effectively during behavioral or medical emergencies.
  • Notify supervisors, house parents, on-call staff, or emergency responders when necessary.
  • Wake youth according to individualized treatment plans when required.
  • Complete accurate shift documentation, logs, and incident reports.
  • Communicate important information during shift change.
  • Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and other overnight duties.
  • Monitor facility conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Assist youth with hygiene needs and distribute approved personal care items, clothing, and linens.
  • Follow each child's treatment plan and agency policies to provide consistent structure and discipline.
  • Attend required staff meetings and complete all required training.

## Qualifications
**Qualifications**

Applicants must possess

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • A valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • A history free of offenses that would prohibit signing the **Affidavit of Good Moral Character**.
  • The ability to successfully pass all required criminal background screenings, drug screening, and pre-employment requirements.
  • The ability to remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the entire overnight shift.
  • Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively during crisis situations.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate

  • A genuine desire to serve as a positive role model and mentor for children.
  • Professionalism and the ability to interact respectfully with youth, families, coworkers, and community partners.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and willingness to work cooperatively for the benefit of the children and the organization.
  • The ability to provide consistent structure, supervision, and appropriate behavioral guidance in accordance with agency policies and each child's individualized treatment plan.
  • A commitment to creating a safe, stable, and homelike environment where youth feel respected, supported, and cared for.

**Training**

SAYS provides comprehensive training, including

  • New Employee Orientation
  • CPR/First Aid (if required)
  • Crisis Intervention Training
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Control
  • Universal Precautions
  • 40 hours of annual in-service training
