**Laboratory Technician**

**Job Summary:**

This position is responsible in part to perform phlebotomy, conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, operate and maintain laboratory equipment and perform required quality control measures established in part by the laboratory supervisor in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

**Duties/Responsibilities:**

**Clinical**

  • Perform phlebotomy
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment
  • Prepare laboratory samples and analyze
  • Perform all quality control required on: equipment and testing materials
  • Routinely monitor all equipment and testing materials to ensure accuracy
  • Report results to necessary entities
  • Maintain all records including patient results in accordance to state regulations
  • Assist in training and/or directing all others engaged in laboratory testing
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • Be able to occasionally transport laboratory specimens to/from other locations
  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients
  • Other duties as assigned

**Experience:**

Experience in a clinical or medical practice setting is preferred.

**Education Requirements:**

Some clinical education is preferred.

**Working Conditions:**

This position must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The duties are performed in a laboratory setting, sitting, standing and walking with some light lifting.
