Material Handler

About The Role
## Description
The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate and efficient movement, storage, and staging of raw
materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods in a food manufacturing environment. This position supports
production by ensuring materials are available as needed while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant
workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials, ingredients, and packaging components using forklifts,
pallet jacks, or by hand.
- Supply production lines with necessary materials in a timely manner to prevent downtime.
- Ensure all materials are correctly labeled, stored, and rotated (FIFO) to maintain product quality and
food safety compliance.
- Verify and document incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy of quantities, item
descriptions, and lot numbers.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), 5S/6S standards, and food safety procedures at all times.
- Keep all work areas clean and organized, performing routine housekeeping tasks and disposing of waste
properly.
- Collaborate with the production and quality teams to ensure material traceability and compliance.
- Report damaged goods, safety hazards, or inventory discrepancies to supervisors immediately.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and complete equipment checklists when required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.
- Basic math and inventory counting skills.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety guidelines, and material labels in English.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist for extended periods of time.
- Comfortable working in cold, hot, humid, or dusty environments based on product zones.
- Must be able to operate forklifts or pallet jacks (training/certification provided if necessary).
Work Environment
- Fast-paced production and warehouse areas.
- Exposure to food ingredients, allergens, and sanitation chemicals.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
