## Position Summary

As a **Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)**, you'll work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide skilled occupational therapy services in patients' homes. You'll play a vital role in helping individuals regain function, improve daily living skills, and achieve greater independence following illness, injury, or disability.

## What You'll Do

  • Deliver occupational therapy treatments according to the established plan of care.
  • Assist patients in improving activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, transfers, positioning, and use of assistive equipment.
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Accurately document visits and treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, caregivers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Promote patient safety, independence, and quality of life while following all regulatory and clinical standards.

## Qualifications
**Required:**

  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree program for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.
  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the State of Maine.
  • Minimum of one year of recent clinical experience preferred.
  • Current Maine driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proof of automobile insurance.
  • CPR certification (or ability to maintain certification).

## Work Environment
This position primarily serves patients in their homes throughout the community. The role requires regular travel between patient locations and occasional office work.

Physical requirements include

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting
  • Climbing stairs
  • Safe patient transfers
  • Fine motor skills
