**SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE**

The Communications and Weekend Services Coordinator provides administrative, logistical, and communication support for Journey’s weekend services and church-wide communication. This position coordinates service elements related to worship, production, preaching, and ministry communication to help ensure weekend gatherings are planned, organized, and aligned with Journey’s mission, vision, values, and DNA.

**Weekend Service Coordination**

  • Coordinate weekend service planning, including worship, production, preaching, announcements, transitions, and other service elements.
  • Maintain service plans, run sheets, schedules, and communication tools to ensure all teams are prepared.
  • Coordinate with worship, production, preaching, hospitality, and ministry leaders regarding service needs, deadlines, and updates.
  • Help track weekend service details, including speaking schedules, worship sets, stage needs, creative elements, media, and special service components.
  • Attend service planning meetings and communicate action items to the appropriate staff or volunteers.
  • Support weekend execution by helping ensure service elements are organized, communicated, and ready.
  • Assist with special services and major church events, including baptisms, Christmas, Easter, Prayer Week, and other all-church gatherings.

**Communications Coordination**

  • Coordinate church-wide communication in partnership with staff and the Executive Pastor.
  • Help organize and maintain communication calendars, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Gather ministry information and ensure communication requests are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Coordinate announcements, email communication, website updates, social media requests, slides, bulletin content, and other communication channels as assigned.
  • Help ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with Journey’s voice, mission, vision, values, and priorities.
  • Support internal staff communication so ministries are aware of upcoming events, deadlines, and church-wide priorities.

**Website and Social Media Support**

  • Coordinate with outside contractors regarding website updates, social media content, digital communication, and related projects.
  • Submit content updates, edits, images, event information, and deadlines to contractors as needed.
  • Review website and social media updates for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with approved communication direction.
  • Track digital communication needs and follow up to ensure projects are completed on time.

**Administrative and Ministry Support**

  • Maintain organized records, calendars, communication plans, service documents, and project notes.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking notes, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Support ministry leaders with communication and service-related administrative needs.
  • Help improve systems and processes related to weekend services, communication requests, and ministry coordination.
  • Provide excellent support to staff, volunteers, contractors, and ministry partners.

**Leadership and Team Contribution**

  • Work collaboratively with pastors, ministry leaders, staff, volunteers, and outside contractors.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, service planning meetings, communication meetings, and other assigned meetings.
  • Maintain a servant-hearted, flexible, and solution-oriented approach to ministry support.
  • Represent Journey with professionalism, warmth, discretion, and alignment with Journey’s values.

  • **QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
  • **Education, Training, and Experience**
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Communications, Ministry, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years of administrative, communications, ministry, event coordination, or related experience preferred.
  • Church or nonprofit ministry experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, events, services, communications, or production-related details preferred.

**Job Skills, Knowledge, Expectations, and Abilities**

  • Christ follower with a desire to support the ministry and mission of Journey.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, track details, and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Planning Center, Canva, social media platforms, website tools, or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, contractors, and ministry leaders.
  • Ability to receive direction, ask clarifying questions, and follow through with excellence.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and major church events.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

This position takes place in an office environment, weekend service environments, ministry spaces, and the grounds around the Journey campus. The role may include interaction with staff, volunteers, attenders, contractors, vendors, and ministry partners.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

  • Sitting or standing for one to two hours at a time.
  • Using standard office equipment.
  • Working at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Walking around the campus during services, meetings, and events.
  • Occasionally lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds.

**POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS**

This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position scheduled to work approximately 40 hours per week. Standard days and work hours may fluctuate depending on Journey services, ministry needs, meetings, events, and communication deadlines. This position may require weekends, evenings, holidays, and major church events.

**ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS**

  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • For the safety of our attenders, volunteers, and staff, employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
  • Candidates under the age of 18 may be required to furnish and maintain a valid work permit.
