Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join our Radiology team. This unique dual-role position combines diagnostic medical sonography with radiologic technology, allowing you to utilize a broad range of imaging skills while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

As a member of our imaging team, you'll perform high-quality ultrasound examinations and serve as a backup Radiologic Technologist, working alongside providers and healthcare professionals to support timely diagnoses and outstanding patient care.

Job duties include, but are not limited to

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and serves as a backup Radiologic Technologist in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and accepted standards of practice.
• Reviews physician orders, patient history, and clinical information to ensure the appropriateness of the examination, medical necessity, patient readiness, and compliance with established imaging protocols.
• Assesses patients prior to imaging procedures, identifying contraindications, preparation concerns, safety risks, or other factors that may impact the quality or completion of the examination.
• Performs diagnostic sonography examinations utilizing independent professional judgment, critical thinking, and technical expertise to obtain high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Positions patients appropriately and utilizes proper scanning techniques, imaging protocols, ergonomic practices, and equipment adjustments to optimize image quality while promoting patient comfort and safety.
• Evaluates ultrasound and radiographic images for technical quality, anatomical accuracy, and diagnostic completeness; acquires additional images as necessary to support accurate diagnosis and quality patient care.
• Identifies, documents, and communicates significant findings, examination limitations, technical concerns, or patient safety issues to the interpreting physician or ordering provider as appropriate.
• Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed, including patient positioning, equipment operation, image acquisition, and adherence to established radiographic protocols and standards.
• Operates and maintains proficiency with ultrasound equipment, digital radiography systems, PACS, DEXA equipment, computerized radiography systems, Electronic Health Records (EHR), RPMS, and other imaging-related technology.
• Maintains compliance with radiation safety standards and practices and radiation protection techniques consistent with ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the public.
• Explains imaging procedures and provides patient education in a manner appropriate to the patient's level of understanding to promote cooperation, reduce anxiety, and ensure successful completion of examinations.
• Maintains accurate patient records, imaging documentation, reports, procedure logs, and examination data while ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Operates and maintains image management systems, including PACS, and coordinates the uploading, importing, and management of outside imaging studies and comparison examinations.
• Assists with quality assurance activities, equipment monitoring, accreditation requirements, policy development, and departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment and follows established infection-prevention, sterilization, environmental-safety, and equipment-maintenance procedures.
• Collaborates effectively with radiologists, providers, technologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care and efficient imaging operations.
• Participates in continuing education, competency assessment, and professional development activities to maintain clinical expertise, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
• Performs other imaging, patient care, quality assurance, and departmental support duties as assigned.

## Qualifications

• Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values.
• A graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology program is required. Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Sciences, or a related healthcare field preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of diagnostic medical sonography experience and two (2) years of radiologic technologist experience required.
• OB (Obstetric) certification required
• Current ARDMS or ARRT certification that meets sonography and radiologic technology requirements
• Demonstrated proficiency in performing general abdominal, pelvic (gynecologic and obstetrical), small parts (including thyroid and scrotal), vascular (carotid, aortic, arterial, and venous Doppler), renal Doppler, and ultrasound-guided procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, ultrasound physics, radiographic positioning, radiation safety principles, medical terminology, patient assessment, and imaging protocols.
• Ability to independently perform a variety of ultrasound and radiographic examinations, recognize normal and abnormal findings, identify examination limitations, and obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
• Strong computer proficiency required, including experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), PACS, imaging information systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with RPMS and/or Epic preferred.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, radiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound clinical judgment, maintain patient confidentiality, and work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative healthcare environment.
