**JOB SUMMARY:**

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment used in sugar processing and co-generation. Work involves monitoring system performance, ensuring reliable steam production, performing routine maintenance, and responding to operational issues to maintain production targets and safety standards.

Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

• Operates and monitors high-pressure boilers to ensure continuous steam supply for plant operations
• Adjusts fuel feed (bagasse), air flow, and water levels to optimize combustion and efficiency
• Monitors and checks all boiler auxiliary equipment including but not limited to fans and boiler feedwater and condensate pumps; bagasse handling system; and bagasse hydraulic systems
• Starts up, shuts down, and stabilizes boiler systems following established procedures
• Reads and interprets gauges, meters, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operating station systems, and control dashboards to track proper boiler performance
• Monitors water levels and fuel supply to maintain optimal operation of boiler system
• Records operational data, logs, and shift reports
• Identifies and troubleshoots equipment malfunctions
• Assists maintenance teams with repairs and outages
• Maintains cleanliness and housekeeping of boiler and bagasse handling areas
• Optimizes fuel usage to improve efficiency and reduce waste
• Cross trains employees in all aspects of boiler operations including preventative observations of water levels, gas consumption, and temperatures of boilers
• Makes recommendations for quality, performance, and maintenance improvements
• Reports any accidents, mechanical issues or damage to company equipment promptly to the supervisor
• Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals
• Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
• Follows organizational and public safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

• High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in boiler operation environment.
• **OR** a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

**CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:**

• May be required to have a valid state of Florida driver license or obtain within a designated period

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**

• Experience in bagasse and gas-fired boiler operations at an industrial facility
• Bilingual – English and Spanish

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:**

• Knowledge of boiler systems, combustion, and steam generation
• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to operating boiler equipment
• Skill in using mathematics required for the work
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair boiler auxiliary equipment
• Ability to read gauges, technical diagrams, and blueprints
• Ability to operate forklift and manlift
• Ability to work in industrial environments
• Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders
• Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a service-oriented team
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining consistent performance and adherence to operational standards

• Ability to maintain regular attendance to ensure efficient and effective performance of job duties

• Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
