Immediate Supervisor: Director of Innovation and Strategy

Office Location: Lynx Den

Work Schedule: This role will be on-site 3-5 days a week.

# POSITION SUMMARY

The Innovation and Strategy Facilitator will support the Director of Innovation and Strategy in implementing changes in approaches, methods, products, and processes to enhance competitiveness and improve organizational efficiencies. The Facilitator will work with the Department of Innovation and Strategy to create new opportunities for family engagement, empowering students to thrive and grow. In addition, the Facilitator attends meetings, collaborates with colleagues on projects, leads projects and processes, and participates in professional development workshops and programs. At all times, the Facilitator works in accordance with all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.

# ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and assist in the coordination of instructional programs supported through the Department of Innovation and Strategy.
  • Assist in the implementation and development of policies and procedures, establishing routines and expectations for students and staff attending in-person events at the Lynx Den.
  • Conduct meetings with staff as necessary for the proper functioning of in-person student events in the Lynx Den.
  • Support the PBIS program.
  • Lead the student ID request, creation, and distribution process.
  • Participate and plan events, including MakerSpace opportunities at the Lynx Den and in remote locations.
  • Prepare reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the Department of Innovation and Strategy.
  • Regularly assess student progress and participation in Innovation events, and adjust instruction or the program accordingly.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, including using data to drive strategic and innovative decision-making.
  • Collect and use appropriate student and teacher data across subject areas to identify areas for improvement and trends aligned with school goals.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Provide direct instruction, tutoring, and individualized support to students.
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary.
  • Use experience and communication skills to attract new students to in-person events.
  • Work with the administration to plan and provide support as needed with initiative implementation and strategic plan tracking.
  • Support the implementation of any district-wide initiative through support, sourcing, professional development, and follow-up.
  • Lead professional development opportunities by providing support aligned with the strategic plan priorities and initiatives that increase effectiveness.
  • Provide resources in the respective newsletter when requested.
  • Stay engaged with updates and involve key stakeholders when new information becomes available.
  • May be required to flex time by working in-person events outside of regular UVA hours.
  • Travel occasionally to support statewide mandated test administration and to participate in student-sponsored events.
  • Support the Chief of Innovation and Strategy as requested and directed.
  • Provide strong customer service and communication when supporting faculty, staff, students, and executive leadership.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Technology and Media

  • Manage, operate, and maintain audiovisual (A/V) equipment for live and recorded events, meetings, professional development sessions, and school broadcasts.
  • Operate and troubleshoot live production systems, including TriCaster, video switchers, audio mixers, and streaming platforms.
  • Coordinate and produce live broadcasts for school events.
  • Configure and manage audio, video, lighting, and streaming equipment to ensure high-quality productions.
  • Monitor live broadcasts and quickly resolve technical issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Install, maintain, and inventory A/V equipment, including cameras, microphones, displays, projectors, sound systems, and digital signage.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for live production and broadcast workflows.
  • Train faculty and staff on the operation of classroom and event A/V equipment.
