## Description
**Position Summary:**
The Phone Triage Medical Assistant is responsible for coordinating nephrology patient care by triaging patient phone calls, relaying information in a timely manner by utilizing the EHR to enter messages into the patients chart
**Essential Job Functions:**
- Perform routine clinical tasks to support assigned provider(s).
- Answer phones, respond to voicemails and use the electronic health record to enter messages into the patients chart.
- Room patients including but not limited to: obtaining vital signs such as height, weight, and blood pressure, reviewing/updating patients medication list, and obtaining a urine specimen for urinalysis.
- Prepare electronic health records for the physician, including making sure all necessary records are accounted for before the visit (labs/radiology/testing).
- Process prescription refills and obtain prior authorization for medications.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and stock exam rooms; practice HIPAA & OSHA compliance and safety standards.
- Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
- Perform miscellaneous job duties as requested.
- Travel to other KSOSN clinics as required
## Qualifications
**Minimum Requirements:**
- Medical Assistant certificate or diploma required.
- Minimum two (2) years of medical assistant experience required.
- Knowledge and appropriate use of medical terminology required.
- Must have excellent communication and computer skills.
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be task oriented, self-motivated, and able to work remotely if needed without supervision
- Experience with Telemedicine preferred.
- Prior experience working in an urgent care or specialty setting preferred.
