### **Part-Time General Music Teacher**

**Location:** American Preparatory Academy – Draper Campus

**Program:** Sistema Utah After-School Music Program

#### **Job Summary**

Join our award-winning Sistema Utah program! We are looking for a dynamic, passionate individual to teach general music for our after-school music program as we expand our Draper campuses.

Partnered with American Preparatory Academy, Sistema Utah provides children with a vibrant after-school experience, combining high-quality music instruction, academic support, choral singing, and nutritious snacks. Patterned after the global El Sistema movement that originated in Venezuela, our mission is to foster creativity, discipline, and community, empowering our students for social change.

#### **Duties & Responsibilities**

• Teach fundamental elements of music to groups of children in grades K–6, introducing them to rhythm, reading notes, foundational music theory, and great musical compositions.
• Collaborate with site staff to foster a positive, structured, and creative learning environment.
• Maintain consistency and engagement across all daily music classes.
• Assist with post-program student pickup (ending at 5:30 PM) and daily classroom reset.

#### **Shift Hours & Schedule**
This program runs every school day following APA's schedule.

• **Monday, Tuesday, Friday:** 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• **Wednesday, Thursday:** 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• This is a school-year-only position beginning in August and ending in May and will include a mandatory training week.

## Qualifications
#### **Education & Experience**

• A college degree in music or ongoing music studies is a plus, but not required.
• Suzuki Method teacher training or experience working with elementary-aged groups is highly valued.
• A strong passion for music education and community outreach is a must.
• Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

#### **Compensation**

• **Pay:** $17.00 - $18.50 per hour (Dependent on Experience)
