| 1. Interprets complicated drawings and calculates critical dimensions to determine construction specifications. 2. Plans/lays out machine and bench procedures for projects determining alterations on dimensions of existing dies in order to comply with specifications. 3. Performs complicated setups to make, alter, or repair intricately designed and constructed tools, deep draw, progressive multi-station dies, indexing and calibrated fixtures, etc. 4. Performs component fabrication and die construction tasks using various measuring devices involving various machining operations, including lathe, milling machine, drill press, etc. 5. Performs critical bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble and finish work. 6. Functions as a resource person, giving assistance to various fabrication and tool & die department personnel. 7. Suggests, develops and implements solutions so as to improve tooling performance. 8. Performs experimental and developmental work concerning changes and modifications to tooling/dies. 9. Performs regular safety inspections of equipment to ensure safe operating conditions. 10. Ensures assigned preventative maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and in a timely manner. 11. Cleans equipment and performs general housekeeping tasks, keeping work area clean and organized. |

## Qualifications

| **Education:** Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent in education and experience **Experience:** 2+ years of experience in design-related job function **Communication:** Basic communication skills to receive and convey information concerning problems encountered while performing job duties and to provide assistance to fabrication and tool & die department personnel. In-person interaction with co-workers and supervisors. **Learning/Reading/Mathematical Comprehension:** Perform advanced shop math functions. Learn and comprehend standard operating procedures, quality standards and tooling techniques. Read and write to access information on the computer, complete required paperwork, and interpret documents. **Visual Requirements:** Distinguish between various items for proper length, width, shape, color and other characteristics. Visual abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus. **Motor Skills:** Hand/eye coordination to operate precision equipment, use hand tools and to operate various gauges and measuring devices. Stand, squat, kneel and bend for long periods of time regularly. Move between various work stations frequently. Push/pull and reach with hands and arms frequently. Flexibility to safely position body in unique positions to move and position tooling. Frequently lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. **Environment:** Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, possible temperature extremes, dirt, fluids, oils, solvents, etc. **Special Skills:** High level of mechanical aptitude. Interpret complex blueprints, drawings and specifications. Interpret various precision measuring instruments. Proficient in all machining operations: grinders, mills, drills, lathes, and stamping presses. Advanced machining training/experience equivalent to two year degree in tool & die and 3+ years progressively-responsible experience as a machinist, with skills of a journey-level tool & die maker. Production set-up, die maintenance, troubleshooting and adjustment experience. Experience with blanking, progressive and transfer dies preferred **Dependability:** Maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct. Work any shift and overtime as required. |
