**Job description for Welding Foreman**

**Description:**

Derecktor is seeking an experienced Welding Foreman to lead the welding department at our Fort Pierce, Florida shipyard. This is a working foreman position responsible for supervising the daily activities of the welding team while actively performing welding, fabrication, fitting, and structural repairs on yacht repair and refit projects.

The Welding Foreman leads by example, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position is responsible for planning and assigning work, mentoring team members, coordinating with Production and Project Management, and maintaining productivity while remaining actively involved in the hands-on work. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with aluminum and steel welding, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following

  • Supervise, coordinate, and mentor the daily activities of the welding department.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign work to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Lead by example by maintaining a high level of productivity, workmanship, and professionalism.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Lay out, fabricate, fit, and assemble structural vessel components and miscellaneous metal fabrications.
  • Must be able to perform the following welding processes to an International Class Standard in 3G(plate), 4G(plate) and 6G(pipe) positions
  • SMAW/Steel
  • FCAW/Steel
  • GMAW/Aluminum & Steel
  • GTAW/Aluminum & Steel
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable marine standards.
  • Coordinate welding activities with Production, Project Management, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Identify manpower, equipment, tooling, and material needs and communicate them to management.
  • Ensure welding equipment, tools, and work areas are properly maintained and organized.
  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Train, mentor, and develop welders to improve technical skills, productivity, and quality.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, interviews, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Monitor welding consumables and material inventory and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

## Qualifications
**Required Qualifications:**

  • Extensive experience welding aluminum and steel in a commercial or marine environment.
  • Ability to pass Derecktor's internal welding qualification test.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team of welders.
  • Strong fabrication, fitting, and structural repair experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of welding equipment, fabrication tools, and safe operating procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to meet production schedules.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
