About The Role
## Description
- This position is considered a hands-on leadership role. The Assistant General Manager is expected to actively support all hotel departments and perform operational duties necessary to ensure the successful operation of the hotel.
- Assist the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the hotel while maintaining the highest standards of guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Directly supervise Front Office operations and provide leadership and support to all hotel departments as needed.
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, coach, evaluate, discipline, and, when necessary, participate in the termination process of hotel team members in accordance with company policies.
- Prepare employee schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels while effectively managing labor costs and productivity goals.
- Ensure outstanding guest service through continuous training, coaching, and adherence to Hilton hospitality standards.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, service recovery opportunities, and employee relations issues.
- Perform Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities as assigned, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight coverage when necessary.
- Assist in achieving financial goals by monitoring labor costs, expenses, payroll, purchasing, and departmental productivity.
- Monitor Revenue Management strategies, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and market conditions to maximize hotel revenue and profitability.
- Utilize Hilton Property Engagement Platform (PEP) and other hotel systems efficiently. Experience with Hilton PEP is strongly preferred.
- Maintain accurate operational and financial records, including cash handling, deposits, audits, guest folios, direct bill accounts, credit card transactions, and other required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all Hilton brand standards, Texas Western Hospitality policies, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct daily hotel walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and brand presentation standards are consistently met.
- Partner with the Executive Housekeeper, Chief Engineer, Sales Team, and other department leaders to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist with group business, special events, and sales initiatives by coordinating guest requests and operational needs.
- Participate in forecasting, budgeting, financial reviews, wage planning, and annual business planning with the General Manager.
- Lead departmental meetings, safety meetings, and daily stand-up meetings as directed.
- Maintain emergency procedures and ensure the safety and security of guests, associates, and hotel assets.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and employee development.
- Cover operational shifts in any department as business demands require.
- Utilize personal transportation, when necessary, to procure approved hotel supplies, including food and beverage items, market inventory, engineering materials, housekeeping supplies, office supplies, and other operational items needed to support uninterrupted hotel operations.
- Submit approved business-related expenses and mileage for reimbursement in accordance with Texas Western Hospitality's expense reimbursement policies.
- Maintain the ability to respond promptly to emergency situations or urgent operational needs that may require travel to the hotel or local vendors outside of normal business hours.
- Perform all other duties assigned by the General Manager, Regional Director, or Corporate Leadership.
## Qualifications
- ### Minimum of **2 years of hotel supervisory or management experience** required.
- Previous experience as a Front Office Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, or similar hotel leadership role preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Must have reliable transportation available for occasional local business travel related to hotel operations.
- Must maintain automobile insurance as required by state law.
- **Hilton PEP Property Management System experience strongly preferred.**
- Knowledge of Hilton brand standards preferred.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Working knowledge of revenue management principles and hotel financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and hotel management software.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
### Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the hotel.
- Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.
- Must be able to respond to hotel emergencies, operational issues, and guest needs outside of normal business hours when required.
- Must be able to travel locally to vendors, suppliers, banks, corporate offices, or other business-related locations as necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds when transporting hotel supplies or equipment.
### Preferred Qualifications
- Hilton brand experience.
- Hilton PEP certification or hands-on operational experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience with Paycom, M3 Accounting, Quore, and Hilton reporting systems is preferred.
