JOB DESCRIPTION FOR COOKS

RESPONSIBLE TO: Dietary Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing all regular and special diet foods for residents as ordered by physician. Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control; using standardized recipes; preparing proper amount of food to cover menu needs; and preparing and serving all special diets accurately.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

1. Preparation of all food in proper quantities
2. Meeting meal service schedule.
3. Utilizing food handling techniques meeting sanitary standards.
4. Use of recipes and portion control to prevent food waste.
5. Care and cleanliness of equipment and work area.
6. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Good physical and mental health.
2. Must be able to read, write, follow oral directions, and perform simple math calculations.
3. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, twist and lift approximately 40 pounds.
4. Able and willing to work flexible hours.
5. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
