# Job Purpose

The Van Driver is responsible for safely operating a transit van on a morning and afternoon schedule. The Driver must ensure that the transit van is always in good operating condition; pick up and drop off students as per the schedule and assigned route(s); maintain order and security on the van; and obey all laws, regulations, and rules of conduct.

• Operate the transit van in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your van and report discrepancies.
• Drivers are responsible for keeping their van clean, fueled and in good working condition. This will include communication with the mechanics on maintenance issues and schedule cleaning.
• Ensure the van is safely and securely stored.
• Attends training programs, meetings as required.

## Qualifications
### ***Education And / Or Experience***

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience with good public relations and customer service
• Valid class D driver’s License with good driving record; favorable background check
• The ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license
