## Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a safety-focused CDL Driver to transport products and materials between local warehouse locations. This position primarily involves short-haul, local routes with frequent trips between company facilities and distribution centers. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company-owned commercial vehicles in accordance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), DOT, and company regulations.
- Perform short-distance transportation of products, pallets, and materials between local warehouses and distribution centers.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route vehicle inspections and immediately report any mechanical or safety concerns.
- Ensure loads are properly secured and transported safely to prevent product damage or safety incidents.
- Verify shipping documentation, bills of lading, transfer paperwork, and inventory records for accuracy.
- Maintain accurate DOT logs, inspection reports, and transportation records as required.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, dispatchers, and supervisors regarding delivery schedules and operational issues.
- Follow established yard, dock, and warehouse traffic procedures.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned vehicle and equipment.
- Assist with loading and unloading activities as required.
- Operate material handling equipment safely when authorized and trained.
- Report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, or equipment issues immediately.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to transportation safety and operational efficiency.
Safety Responsibilities
Safety is the highest priority for this position. The CDL Driver is expected to
- Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, state, local, and company safety regulations.
- Adhere to defensive driving practices at all times.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on company property and customer locations.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and periodic driver evaluations.
- Maintain situational awareness in warehouse yards, busy docks, and industrial traffic areas.
- Immediately stop work and notify management when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record and uphold all company safety standards.

Required
- Ability to work 2nd shift 2pm-10pm
- Valid Class A CDL (preferred) or Class B CDL as required by the equipment operated.
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience preferred.
- Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations.
- Ability to pass DOT drug screening, background check, and any applicable compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Excellent attendance and reliability.
Preferred
- Experience with local shuttle operations or warehouse-to-warehouse transportation.
- Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
- Experience using electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
- Frequent entering and exiting of truck cab.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to secure loads using straps, load bars, or other restraint systems.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and warehouse environments.
