**Job Summary:**

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for the protection of the Richland-Lexington Airport District’s personnel, property, and customers. This position will maintain a positive working relationship with all personnel, maintain a safe working environment, and exercise professional judgment in the performance of their job.

**Responsibilities:**

• Patrol assigned area and respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
• Maintain positive working relationship with all personnel.
• Monitor and control access to assigned building.
• Monitor and control area access.
• Control and maintain building security.
• Follow all policies and procedures as set forth by Columbia Metropolitan Airport and the Department of Public Safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Leadership skills

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

• Active Class I Law Enforcement Officer (or within the past 12 months)
• U.S. Citizen
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Registered voter in the state of South Carolina
• Valid SC driver’s license
• Consent to and pass random drug screenings.
• Pass preemployment background investigation which includes: a polygraph examination, criminal history, and credit checks.
• Ability to pass annual medical evaluation and fit test which shows ability to wear a respirator.
• Obtain FAR 139 Airport firefighter certification (40-hour course) within 3 months of hire (paid by the Airport).
• Ability to work 24hr on and 48hr off schedule.
• Fluent in English, with the ability to speak, read and write.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,337 annually
