## Substitute Teacher

JOB TITLE: SUBSTITUTE/ LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

  • **REPORTS TO: SITE DIRECTOR**
  • **STATUS: SEASONAL POSITION**

### QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education or a related field with at least 7 – 12 credits in Child Development/Early Childhood Education.
  • New Jersey P – 3 Teacher Certification
  • Experience working with low-income/urban population.
  • Two years of experience as a full-time preschool teacher preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

**Planning and Preparation**

  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of students.
  • Sets instructional outcomes.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of resources.
  • Designs coherent instructions.
  • Designs student assessment.

**Class Environment**

  • Creates and environment of respect and rapport.
  • Establishes a culture for learning.
  • Manages classroom procedures.
  • Manages student behavior.
  • Organizes physical space.

**Instruction**

  • Communicates with students.
  • Uses questioning and discussion techniques.
  • Engages students in learning.
  • Uses assessment in instruction.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Appropriate level of technology integration.
  • Appropriate variety of technology

**Professional Responsibilities**

  • Reflects on teaching.
  • Maintains accurate records.

### GENERAL

  • Follow NJ state requirement as per NJ Department of Children and Families, Office of Licensing, Chapter 122 Manual of Requirement for Child Care Centers.
  • Follow Center policy for the discipline and care of students in accordance with the DCF, Office of Licensing and PRAB manual & procedures.
  • Insure compliance with PRAB rules, regulations and procedures accordance with PRAB Employee Handbook.
  • Understand and follow center’s Crisis Management Plan and Procedures.
  • Complete daily Meal Count and Attendance Record for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
  • Maintain record of student’s allergy information and ensure center’s compliance in meal service.
  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance and punctuality.
