## Description
**POSITION TITLE**: Athletic Trainer
**DEPARTMENT**: Athletic Department
**SUPERVISOR**: Director of Athletic Training/Head Athletic Trainer
**GENERAL JOB FUNCTION**
To assist in the planning, organization, coordination, and management of the Athletic Training Department. To assist in the management and delivery of athletic healthcare to the intercollegiate student-athletes.
**STANDARD EXPECTATIONS**
- To possess the understanding of and the commitment to the University Mission.
- To be responsible for assisting in the development of policies and procedures for athletic training students.
- To be responsible for clinical instruction and supervision of athletic training students.
- To be responsible for assisting in the operation of the athletic training facilities.
- To be responsible for overseeing programs for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- To be responsible for coverage of athletic teams as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training/Head Athletic Trainer.
- To be responsible for traveling with assigned athletic teams.
- To be responsible for assisting in the management of the athletic accident insurance program.
- To perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned and/or requested by the Director of Athletic Training/Head Athletic Trainer.
**DECISION MAKING AND MANAGEMENT**
On a regular and continuous basis exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the department/division.
Position directly supervises Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and athletic training students.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
**Required**: Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field; BOC certification; Athletic
Training Licensure by the state of Tennessee, CPR/AED certification (Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider)
**Preferred**: Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field
**Experience**: 0-2 years of related, collegiate level experience preferred
**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Communication Skills using the spoken word
- Proven experience in athletic training at the collegiate level
- Organizational Skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities
- Multi-task oriented
- Interpersonal and Supervisory Skills
