Job Purpose

  • The Produce Dept. Supervisor at PAY-LESS is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the produce department, ensuring the highest quality of products and customer service. This role involves managing inventory, supervising staff, and maintaining a clean and organized department to enhance the shopping experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the produce department staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order produce to maintain appropriate stock levels, minimizing waste and maximizing freshness.
  • Ensure all produce is displayed attractively and maintained at the highest quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to the produce department, enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for produce department staff and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate promotions and special events.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for increasing sales and profitability within the produce department.

## Qualifications

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in business or retail management is a plus.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail environment, preferably in a supervisory role within a produce department.
  • Proven track record of managing inventory, ordering, and merchandising produce.
  • Experience in training and leading a team to achieve sales and customer service goals.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
  • Proficient in inventory management and familiar with point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring quality standards.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage department operations efficiently.
  • Knowledge of produce varieties, storage requirements, and food safety standards.
