Do you enjoy working with people, design, and beautiful spaces? Custom Wood Products is seeking an enthusiastic Showroom Consultant to join our team in our Topeka showroom.
In this customer-focused role, you’ll be the first point of contact for homeowners, designers, builders, and contractors—both in person and over the phone. You’ll guide customers through product selections, support our design team, and help ensure a smooth experience from initial consultation through cabinet design, construction, and delivery.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining customer service with creativity, collaboration, and hands-on involvement in custom woodworking projects.
**Work Schedule:** Monday-Friday 8:30am-6pm, with rotating Saturdays 8:30am-2pm
**Major Duties:**
- Work with a diverse customer base, including builders, designers, and homeowners, to sell a wide range of products
- Assist customers in person by appointment, walk-ins and by phone, while utilizing suggestive sales techniques managing customer concerns in a timely manner
- Greet and assist all customers and visitors
- Answer incoming calls and handle caller’s inquiries by providing accurate information
- Ability to understand CWP production process and ability to clearly explain the process and customization features to customers
- Provide office support services to ensure efficiency of day-to-day operations
- Receive, direct and deliver phone and email messages
- Maintain a record of customers and their cabinetry needs in CWP’s CRM system
- Willingness to learn and stay abreast of cabinet design and construction methods
- Support designers and customer’s throughout the sales process
- Continually enhance sales skills and product knowledge in order to promote a professional image at CWP
- Work with other locations and personnel to ensure teamwork and deliver consistent customer service throughout the entire sales process
- CRM – Daily recording of all sales activity including, customer interactions (i.e. phone calls; in person meetings; email; text); new sales; internal communication and proper documentation through entire sales process until closed or lost
**General Responsibilities:**
- Support CWP’s strong relationship culture through quality customer service and superior product knowledge
- Provide exemplary customer service by resolving problems efficiently and responding timely to all internal and external requests
- Work collaboratively with staff to encourage and support a team environment
- Flexible to accept additional assignments as requested by leadership
- Cross train for other positions to cover when necessary
- Attend and participate meetings as requested
- Provide same day responses to inquiries for information to customers, staff and vendors
- Answer telephone calls professionally and provide prompt follow through
- Follow CWP policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
## Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal)
- Customer focused skills with excellent listening skills
- Possess problem solving and problem resolution skills
- Ability to handle a vast array of customers with varying levels of product knowledge
- Ability to effectively handle phone and email inquiries
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proficient in MS Office, with ability to learn other software as needed
