**Description**

After School Lead Counselor - Seasonal Position

Grades PK3 - 5

**Seasonal**

Maclay School is currently seeking responsible energetic after-school counselors with a genuine passion for working with children to apply for the PreK & Lower School Kids Club After-School Counselor position for the current academic year. This position will serve as an on-site leader for an assigned group of counselors and students by mentoring counselors, supporting daily operations, communicating with Auxiliary Program leadership, and ensuring activities, safety procedures, and schedules are implemented consistently for the current school year.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Assist in supervising assigned counselors and students, while serving as a primary point of contact for the respective Kids Club program director regarding daily operations, behavior concerns, and parent communication.
  • Foster the physical, emotional, and social well-being of students in the Lower School’s after school Kids Club seasonal program.
  • Support and engage in activities that incorporate Maclay’s Mission and Vision into the daily routine.
  • Lead group activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the students attending.
  • Maintain records of attendance and sign-in/out sheets provided by the respective Director of Kids Club
  • Effective daily communication with the respective Director of Kids Club when questions or concerns are presented.
  • Report any problems which arise with students, enrichments, or staff to the Director of Auxiliary Programs or respective Kids Club Director in a timely manner.
  • Supervise, assist, and actively participate in all aspects of the student’s afternoon.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students by showing sensitivity to student’s emotional needs and problem solving any student issues effectively.
  • Act as a role model for students by following all policies and demonstrating enthusiasm, sense of humor, and self-control.
  • Implement and help teach positive behavior-management and responsive classroom techniques.
  • Help maintain space and supplies.

## Qualifications
**Qualifications:**

  • High School Diploma, preferred degree in early childhood education (or pursing degree)
  • Part-time availability, Monday through Friday from 2:15pm – 6:00pm
  • Demonstrated experience leading in a group setting.
  • Ability to teach, lead, and participate in various recreational activities.
  • Excellent character, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels.
  • The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, collaborative atmosphere.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.

Physical Requirements and ADA Statement

This role requires regular movement between classrooms and buildings, participation in classroom observations, and navigating indoor and outdoor spaces. The position also requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate clearly, operate standard technology, and occasionally lift up to 20–30 pounds.
