About The Role
## Description
**Responsibilities**
- Provide leadership and guidance to campers in all program areas.
- Provide support in developing all camp games and themed skits /events
- Responsible for running activities in program areas
- Responsible for creating facility usage schedules (shower, trading post, trail rides, etc.)
- Provide leadership and support as directed by organizing, or leading camp activities or by providing administrative office support as needed
- Participate in Instructor training prior to staff training
- Actively participate in staff training and staff meetings.
- Assume responsibility for the heath/welfare of campers and staff entrusted to his/her charge.
- Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties.
- Observe camper and staff behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Demonstrate proper care and storage of all equipment and supplies.
- Provide and ensure proper set up and cleanup of all programs and events.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required.

## Qualifications
**Qualifications**
- At least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Previous camp leadership.
- Able to coordinate and supervise summer staff.
- Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants
- Must demonstrate leadership qualities-allowing for the development of personal and professional interpersonal relationships with staff, campers, parents, and others.
- Must be committed to the mission of YMCA Camp Shady Brook and be an advocate and role model for staff and campers alike.
- Previous experience and/or training in youth camping.
- Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications
