### Part-Time Thrift Store Associate

**Hope House Foundation Thrift Store – Norfolk, VA**

Looking for a part-time job with a purpose? Join the Hope House Foundation Thrift Store team! We are a nonprofit organization seeking a dependable, customer-focused team member who enjoys helping people, staying organized, and working in a fast-paced retail environment.

### Schedule

Applicants **must be available for all three shifts:**

  • Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

### What You'll Do
#### Customer & Donor Service

  • Welcome and assist customers and donors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Help donors unload and process donated items.
  • Answer questions and provide excellent customer service.

#### Store Operations

  • Organize and prioritize daily tasks effectively.
  • Operate the cash register and process sales transactions.
  • Assist with donation pickups when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and appealing sales floor and merchandise displays.
  • Help ensure the security and proper handling of store merchandise.

#### Merchandise Processing

  • Sort, price, tag, and prepare donated items for sale.
  • Assist with organizing and disposing of non-sellable donations.
  • Support inventory flow and stock rotation.

#### Housekeeping & Maintenance

  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties.
  • Report maintenance or equipment concerns promptly.

#### Teamwork & Engagement

  • Attend quarterly team meetings.
  • Support the thrift store's mission, goals, and policies.
  • Contribute positively to the success of the team and Hope House Foundation.

#### Special Events

  • Assist with special projects, including support for the Hope House Foundation booth at the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival and other community events.

## Qualifications

**Required Qualifications**

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous retail, customer service, cashier, or thrift store experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to provide friendly and professional customer service to shoppers and donors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be available to work all scheduled shifts:
  • Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move donated merchandise (up to 40 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable operating a cash register and handling cash transactions accurately.
