## Description

**Position Summary:**

The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive physical therapy services to patients within the acute care hospital setting. This role evaluates, develops, and implements individualized treatment plans to restore mobility, improve functional independence, and support safe discharge planning. The Physical Therapist collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes, reduce length of stay, and promote patient safety. Care is delivered in accordance with physician orders, regulatory standards, and Trinity Health policies.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals and clinical findings.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions to improve strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and functional performance in medically complex patients.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and modify care plans as appropriate to ensure safe, effective progression of therapy.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and other rehabilitation professionals to support coordinated care and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and family members on mobility techniques, safety precautions, equipment use, and post discharge exercise programs.
  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes accurately and timely within the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

## Qualifications
**Licenses and Certifications Required:**

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in North Dakota.
  • Current driver's license required and car available to travel to patient's home.

**Experience Requirements:**

  • Strongly prefer 2 years previous experience as a Physical Therapist.

  • Exhibits responsibility and flexibility in work situations, willing to work irregular and/or less favorable hours.
  • Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professional attitude when relating with patients, families and colleagues.

**Physical Requirements:**

The Physical Therapist is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout inpatient units while providing direct patient care. The role involves assisting patients with transfers, ambulation, and therapeutic activities, which may require lifting, repositioning, or supporting patients of varying weights. Adequate vision, hearing, communication skills, and manual dexterity are necessary to safely assess patients, operate equipment, and respond effectively in a fast paced clinical environment.

**Environmental Requirements:**

Work is performed primarily in an acute care hospital environment, including medical surgical units, intensive care units, and other specialty areas. The role may involve exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, medical equipment, alarms, and high acuity or high stress situations. Strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and compliance with safety standards are required at all times.
