| Position Purpose |
| A Substitute Teacher, or Sub, teaches and supervises students if their regular teacher is unable to lead class. |

| Essential Functions and Duties |
| - Foster a classroom environment in accordance with the school’s mission: To provide a holistic college preparatory education in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. - Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies. - Ensures adequate supervision to assure the spiritual development, health, welfare, and safety of all students. - Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. - Reports to the office upon arrival at school for substitute duties, requirements for the day, and checkout keys, badge, and laptop if applicable. - If applicable, return keys, badge, and laptop issued to the office at the end of each day. - Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as possible. - Implements provided lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner, which motivates students to learn and participate. - Organizes students for effective instruction. - Dismisses all students from the classroom before leaving the building. - Participates in dismissal duties of the regular teacher. - Submits notes to the regular classroom teacher reporting on the day’s activities. - Collects students’ papers at the end of each day. - Ensure classroom is locked and secure at the end of each day. - Returns instructional materials, equipment, and keys to the proper place. - Long-term substitutes will develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher’s past lesson plans. In addition, substitutes may be expected to attend regular staff meetings. - Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school. |
| Qualifications |
| - Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Experience working with children in an educational setting. - Demonstrated organizational and communication skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Google. - Serve as a Christian role model. |

| Physical Requirements and Work Environment |
| - Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. - May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. - Use close and distance vision. - May stand for extended periods of time. - Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment. - Lift to 30 lbs. - Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written). - Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude. |
